Then I remove my flesh and hang it over a chair.
I slide if off my bones like a silken garment.
I do this so that what I write will be pure,
completely rinsed of the carnal,
uncontaminated by the preoccupations of the body.

I love this poem and the fact that you found the perfect illustration- " remove my flesh"
ReplyDeletewow. Such a powerful image. What I wonder is what attitude is embraced in this poem. Can the poet be making references to a lack of self-confidence in the body?
